Don’t Miss the Thanksgiving Fun at the Turkey Trot

Celebrate Thanksgiving and work up your appetite at the Orange County, CA Turkey Trot!

Thanksgiving is definitely one of the most delicious meals of the year. The problem always seems to be finding enough room in your stomach to fit it all! Luckily, there’s a local event that can help!

The Orange County Turkey Trot will be held on Thanksgiving Day at Irvine Valley College. By getting involved, you have the chance to join with your community and get moving to work up your appetite on Thanksgiving. This is a great way for the whole family to get active, because they have events for people of all ages.

The main race of the Turkey Trot is a 5k that kicks off at 8:00 a.m. There will also be the following races for the younger ones:

  • Diaper Dash: 200-yard dash for kids 3 and under at 9:00 a.m.
  • Tot Trot: 400-yard dash for kids 4 to 5 at 9:05 a.m.
  • Youth Race: The half mile race for ages 6 to 10 kicks of at 9:10 a.m., while the same distance race for ages 11 to 12 starts at 9:15 a.m.

Plus, the health benefits aren’t the only ones you’ll reap at this local event. Proceeds from this year’s Turkey Trot will be used to supply porters on Kilimanjaro with the jackets, boots, tents, gloves, and hats they need to make the trek safely – and return home to their loved ones. Many porters carry more than 60 pounds up the 15,000 climb in worn shoes with few layers for warmth just to feed their families, but you can help!
