Kick Off 2014 With These New Year’s Resolutions For Your Home

It’s finally the new year, and you need some New Year’s resolutions to tackle so you can have a better lifestyle. Instead of changing yourself, why not try to improve the home you live in so you can enjoy your living arrangements more. Here are 3 New Year’s resolutions for your home to relieve the stress and improve your life.

1: Shed off the excess items and de-clutter your home.

If your home had a stomach, it would be stuffed with all the new gifts and presents received during the holidays. You may have so much clutter that you can’t even move from room to room. It’s time to get rid of all the extra items and get organized. Use storage containers to store the items you want to keep but don’t need during your everyday activities. If there are items you don’t plan to use anytime soon, consider donating them or holding a yard sale.

2: Use less water and reduce your water bill.

While it is commendable that you want to drink more water to have a healthier lifestyle, at the same token you need to cut down on the amount of water you are wasting down the drain. Turn off the faucet when brushing your teeth, install low-flow toilets that use less water to flush, and upgrade the water heater so don’t have to leave the water running very long to get it warm to take a shower.

3: Live in a healthier and cleaner air environment.

With the rising number of people and children having breathing problems and asthma, it is becoming more important to keep the air inside your home clean and breathable. When you are painting, use low-VOC paints that doesn’t put cancer-causing gases into the air. Portable home purifiers work great to get rid of common allergens in the room as it keeps the air smelling fresh.
