Gods & Gifts: Vatican Ethnological Collection at Bowers Museum

The Bowers Museum in Santa Ana is one of Orange County’s cultural treasures. This fall the museum presents Gods and Gifts: Vatican Ethnological Collection, an exhibit of spiritual treasures from across the globe for visitors to learn from and admire.

The esoteric collection illuminates religious practices and belief systems through art. Started in 1692 by Cardinal Stefano Borgia the entire collection includes more than 80,000 unique pieces from diverse cultures.The exhibit at Bowers Museum highlights 65 sets of objects that represent the human family’s efforts to glorify, praise and understand life’s greatest mysteries. Residents of and visitors to the greater Irvine area may view the Gods and Gifts exhibit until February 9, 2014.
